We are thrilled to announce that the generous donations from the attendees of the May 06th Raleigh Dining in the Dark dinner at the North Ridge Country Club will enable us to pair two MIRA guide dogs with deserving blind students. We are honored and humbled by the tremendous outpouring from the wonderful people who joined us for a magical evening. Twelve year old Ms. Cricket Bidleman, our first MIRA USA guide dog recipient, addressed the audience with poise, humor, and insight while giving us all a lesson in the real meaning of spirit.
Our thanks to Kathy and Leigh Virtue, Ginny Watters, and all of the tireless volunteers who made this event a true milestone for MIRA. (Photos in the photo gallery on this site.)
The Friendship Heights Washington, D.C. location of Pete’s New Haven style Apizza (4940 Wisconsin Avenue NW) donated a portion of yesterday’s dining receipts to the MIRA Foundation! Thank you to the owners and staff and to those diners who made this contribution possible. We are truly grateful.
MIRA will be the beneficiary this evening and tomorrow of a special fundraising event sponsored by Rick Anderson and our many friends at Uni-Select Corp in Roanoke. We will be attending a fundraising dinner tonight complete with Silent Auction, and tomorrow everyone hits the links to chase that maddening white ball around for eighteen holes. Stay tuned for Devon’s report on the festivities.
Thanks to Kevin, one of the managers at Ruby Tuesday. He arranged for MIRA to be the recipient of a “give back”program. For all guests who presented their waiter with a MIRA flyer when paying their bill(downloaded from our website) Ruby’s donated 20% of that bill to MIRA at both lunch and dinner today. Isn’t that great? Thanks to Kevin and all of the wonderful people at Ruby Tuesday’s who made this happen for us.
Many thanks to the Link family: Stephen, Kathy and Maddie, and their many friends and family members who helped to make the first Pedals for Paws Washington, D.C. bike ride and fundraiser a great benefit for MIRA. Your commitment to MIRA and your multifaceted approach to the event by including the restaurant evenings is truly appreciated. ( see website for photos and more)
Bob and Devon, accompanied by MIRA Board member, Kathy Virtue, joined a breakfast group of Lion’s
Club members in Raleigh this morning. Bob gave a short presentation about MIRA’s history and mission to a very receptive gathering. We have been truly honored by the reception MIRA has received in the Raleigh area.
Next Tuesday, December 04,plan to dine at the Aberdeen Ruby Tuesday restaurant for either lunch or dinner, and either bring a flyer printed out from our homepage link or ask for one at the restaurant. 20% of your meal purchase amount will be donated by Ruby’s directly back to MIRA!
Bob and Devon have arrived in Canada where they will spend the week with our
contingent of students from the US who are training to receive their MIRA dogs.
It’s an exciting time for all of us.
Claudia Rodriguez of Fayetteville, NC is MIRA’s holiday raffle winner and she has chosen to travel to the Cayman Islands. We would
like to thank everyone who participated in making this fundraiser a success. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
